3. She goes, you follow, her mystery, the world

DSC04285-1

She gently slides away from underneath your arm
She steps out of bed into the sunlight
She slings the pack over her shoulder
She is gone

You don’t think as you stand up after her
You see her beautiful outline disappear behind the nearest hill
You step through that same door, you don’t know where you are going
yet, You follow her

She smiles at you in cities and on beaches
Her hand leads you through the dancing masses
She offers you nothing
You find everything

She beckons you,
off the piers and onto the boats

You follow her happily, everywhere
You feel more free the more you lose
You have been lost since she smiled at you
Her hair smells like sunshine as you hold her

Now,

You sit alone at a wooden table
The sunlight falls through the window onto the paper
You drop your pen and you look up
You haven’t seen her in years

She held you in the cold mountains
She laughed with you at countless campfires
Her long long hair drifted with you on so many seas and rivers
Her absence is like the seeping water

The light of dawn warms the road
The skyline is beautiful when it’s on fire
The ends keep shifting
You take a trembling first step and a steady second

You know you should be scared
You have never been happier
You still don’t know where you are going
yet, You are following her
